A Vision Course In Psychics – Sketchbook
An old sketchbook from 90-93. I found a stack of books in an old derelict school, attached to the art college, we weren’t supposed to go into. I love using found objects to work on, and used this for my book of hands. This was a school physics book which is ripe for great titles to work with. Most of the images have double titles, one that represents the drawing or words found in the page it is drawn on. I used to feel that finding the titles was as much fun as the drawings themselves.
Only got to about page 70. Would love to revisit some of my own hands in there and do my old man hands for comparison. Most of the work is hands reference but I originally started the book with the Arm Creatures. A single elbow creature, or the double elbow design for more contortions. People might think they are inspired by Gigers biomechanical aliens but are more inspired by early Hans Bellmer line drawings. Page 1 and 5 are Hans Bellmer portraits as just his hands (not shown here)
Working in Biro is amazing on smooth paper and builds up really nicely with a soft approach, if your patient.
